Andy is all about working smarter, not harder. With a passion for innovation and a love of technology that borders on obsession, heโs constantly finding new ways to automate, streamline, and simplify. Tell us about your role as AI & Automations Manager
As the AI & Automations Manager at ITVET, I lead a small team of talented developers whoโve quickly adapted their skills to the new world of AI and automation. Our focus is on improving how people work across the business, both internally and with clients, by finding smarter and more efficient ways to get things done. That could mean reducing repetitive tasks, streamlining processes, or building intelligent tools that save thousands of work hours every year.
My approach to leadership is simple – give the team space to experiment, learn, and grow, while keeping us all aligned to the bigger picture. Collaboration and trust are key. If someone has a good idea, we explore it. Itโs about staying focused, but never rigid – thatโs where real innovation happens.
Can you tell us about your journey at ITVET and what led you to this role?
Iโve been part of ITVET for five years now, and my journey began on the Service Desk as an engineer. Iโve always been drawn to the technical side of IT – whether that’s solving problems, learning systems inside out, exploring new technologies, or finding smarter ways to work.
After earning my stripes as an engineer, I took a side-step into management to continue growing and eventually led the Service Desk team. That experience gave me valuable insight into both people and process – how technology and teamwork harmonise to deliver award-winning service to our clients.
Outside of work, I love experimenting with new technologies and automating anything I can, from home projects to business processes. When AI started to really take off, I was immediately intrigued. It felt like the natural next step, combining my technical background, management experience, and passion for innovation.
That journey ultimately led me to my current role as AI & Automations Manager, where I bring all those skills together to build smarter and more efficient systems for the business and our clients.
What do you love most about working at ITVET?
Without a doubt, the people.
Our employees always come first – and thatโs something you notice immediately when joining. Having worked for other companies, itโs refreshing to be part of a business that genuinely cares. Itโs a culture that values innovation, collaboration, and individual growth.
ITVET stands out because it gives you the freedom to experiment, learn, and build. Itโs a place where good ideas turn into real solutions that make a difference. That level of empowerment keeps us at the forefront of technology and drives continuous progress.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend a lot of time in my garden studio working on creative projects – writing and producing music, refining home automations, tinkering with my 3D printer, or preparing for my next podcast episode. I love blending creativity with technology and seeing ideas come to life in a tangible way.
When I’m not in the studio, I like to switch gears completely. I enjoy catching up with friends, going on nature foraging trips, and spending quality time with my partner and our nine-month-old son.
Iโve always been a naturally restless person who loves learning and creating. My partner says I’m addicted to learning – and sheโs probably right. Thereโs always something new I want to explore or understand better, from brewing my own hot sauce or building an AI assistant to control my house, there’s always a new project on the go. One thing I don’t do, though, is watch TV!โฏ
