Even before we gained this qualification, our whole ethos was already well ahead of this and other environmental legislation.

Our environmental management processes and policies were assessed by the well-recognised industry body, QMS, who awarded us this certification.
Key points of our environmental strategy
We minimise our waste by evaluating our operations to ensure they’re as efficient as possible.
We provide free consultations to our customers to assist them to reduce their carbon footprint.
We carefully evaluate our suppliers.
We deeply understand, embrace, and exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to our company.
We accept responsibility for the harmful effects our operations can have on both the local and global environment.
We measure our company’s impact on the environment. As part of our core business objectives, we set targets for our ongoing improvement.
Sustainable growth
Sustainable growth
Sustainability
We focus our business activities with a long-term, permanent mindset of sustainability.
We make long term investments.
We avoid items that become obsolete quickly.
We purchase high-quality items with longer lifespans.
Actively reducing our carbon footprint
We support others on their journey to become sustainable
We’ve reduced our power consumption in our office
We minimise our toxic emissions by using hybrid company vehicles
We reduce or avoid travelling as much as possible
We joined net-zero initiative Tree-Nation, planting trees in deforested areas to balance out any carbon emissions we do produce
Real actions, not greenwashing
Greenwashing
When a company market themselves as environmentally conscious for their PR image, yet they aren’t making a positive impact on the planet.
Our minimalist approach to business conserves our planet’s precious resources
We believe that producing a huge carbon footprint simply abuses our planet. Our priority is to reduce emissions and behave responsibly towards the carbon footprint we leave on our environment. Our actions need to live in harmony with our intention to protect our environment.
We’re against unrealistic and dishonest practices
No lip service
No box-ticking exercises
No “greenwashing”
Not profit at all cost
Our approach is truly eco-friendly
Our commitment to our environment is our way of life
Our environmental activities really make a difference
We do more than just look environmentally friendly
Every business decision is evaluated through an environmental lens
Significantly reducing our travel
The heavy cost of commuting
Regardless of how we travel, each journey produces harmful emissions that can simply be avoided with virtual conferences and events. If 3.9 million people worked from home at least half the time, there would be a huge reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. It would be the equivalent of removing 600,000 cars for an entire year.
We avoid travelling
We avoid physically travelling to meetings where alternatives are available and practical.
We’re a remote team
Our team has the option of working from home full-time, on a hybrid basis, or from the office every day.
Remote working software
Microsoft Teams collaborative software enables seamless teamwork across our entire company.
Virtual team events
Our online events reduce our travel while ensuring that our whole team can get involved.
Paperless working reduces our consumption
We operate a paper-free policy internally and with our customers as much as possible
The average US office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper each year of which 6,800 sheets are wasted. Each page requires five litres of water, so 50,000 litres of water is used per employee per year.
Wasteful way of
using paper
Note taking with a notepad
Printing out contracts to sign
Printing out documents and using a photocopier
Writers capture interview notes with a paper and pen
Printing leaflets and brochures
Giving and receiving business cards
Jotting down notes during meetings
Producing costly event and exhibition stands and signage
Eco-conscious way
of avoiding paper
Microsoft Word “Dictate” tool captures voice notes
Most contracts can be digitally edited and signed
We avoid printing documents out where possible, instead we read them on screen
Our writers use smartphone apps that transcribe speech to text
We use QR codes to share information via a web page instead
We use a business card app to collect and share contacts digitally
We record Microsoft Teams meetings and transcribe them
We no longer attend in-person events, opting for online events only
We have an appointed energy ambassador
Our energy ambassador evaluates our utility bills
They identify the devices that consume the heaviest volumes of power
They conduct research on how we can reduce consumption
They put measures in place to reduce power usage
They monitor all our ongoing power usage
Detailed energy analysis
As part of their deep analysis, we recently reduced the frequency of our rubbish collections. This reduced the amount of carbon emissions produced by our bin lorries.
It’s been amazing to watch how our energy consumption has changed with a few innovations in our offices. We’re continuing to analyse how we work at ITVET, to make changes that protect our planet and show other companies how they can do the same.

ITVET’s Energy Ambassador
We reduce our office energy consumption using smart building IoT technology
Sustainability underpins every aspect of ITVET. We believe technology can make a positive difference to our environment. This is why we’ve retrofitted our ITVET offices using IoT sensors to transform them into energy-efficient smart buildings by introducing a range of IoT features.
Lights
Only come on if people are in the room and auto shut off when empty.
Bins
Sensors added to our bins tell us if they are full and need to be emptied.
Air conditioners
Sense if someone is actually in the room before turning on.
Each radiator
Enables people to control the temperature in their own environment.
Our environmental commitments
An environmentally conscious way of working is business as usual for us. Our commitment to the environment is woven into the DNA of our company and affects all of our working processes. We want to lead by example, following and promoting good sustainable practices, benefiting our employees, community, and planet.
ITVET as industry influencers for our environment
We provide a free consultation to our customers to assist them in reducing their carbon footprint. We openly share our best practices, so everyone can benefit from our journey to becoming a green business. As smart building experts, we can advise on how to retrofit existing buildings with IoT technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.

We believe in promoting our environmental and community-based values as often as possible. This gives us the possibility of influencing our industry and encouraging other businesses to adopt this approach.
Environmental actions speak louder than words
